Sally Armstrong – Human Rights, Human Wrongs – Public Reception
On Monday, November 2nd, at 7p.m. the SRHS “Human Rights, Human Wrongs Initiative”- Community Partners will be hosting a COMMUNITY RECEPTION at the Sussex Lion’s Den to hear journalist Sally Armstrong and discuss her books, documentaries, and human rights work.
Following her presentation, our Community Partners will be providing a unique“100-Mile Diet” potluck, featuring a wide variety of foods and products produced locally. Guests will be given the opportunity to contribute to this Breaking Bread fund-raiser which helps to pay the $750 annual salary
for teachers in Afghan girls’ schools.
SRHS school projects in art and music will be displayed, including “The Power of One”, a composite art installation created by 100 students. This will be an opportunity for the whole community to meet Sally Armstrong, purchase books from Indigo, donate to the Breaking Bread Fund, and realize how the
“power of one” can truly make a difference in the world.

Report Cards go home to parents on Monday, Nov 2, 2009.
Friday November 6 is a student free day – with Parent Teacher Student Conferences for high schools and school based PD for K-8 teachers.
The times for Parent teacher are Thursday, Nov 5 (4:30-7:00 PM) and Friday, Nov 6 (9:00 – 11:30 AM) by appointment. The telephone numbers to call for an appointment will be on your child’s report card.
Skilled Trades and Technology Week
Next week is a provincial, “Skilled Trades and Technology Week,” and we learned late yesterday we may have a couple of MLA’s visiting SRHS next week.
School District 6 is pleased to announce a week dedicated to helping young people plan for their future and make better informed career and post-secondary decisions.
“Post-Secondary Days” will take place on Monday, November 2nd at Sussex Regional High School and Wednesday, November 4th and Thursday, November 5th, at HMCS Brunswicker in Saint John. Representatives from various universities, colleges and private training schools will be on hand to meet with local high school students to answer questions and provide information relating to their specific interests. Parents are invited to attend on Wednesday evening @ 7:00 p.m. at the Brunswicker.
“Take Our Kids To Work Day” is on Wednesday, November 4th and will provide Grade 9 students with an opportunity to spend the day at a parent’s workplace to give them real-life experience in a work environment.
Girls Soccer
Congratulations the Senior Girls Soccer team. They captured the Southern Conference Championship by beating KVHS 1-0 on Tuesday. The girls played extremely well and deserve a pat on the back, they are a great group to work with, all 23 of them. The team finished the regular season with 10 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie.
The girls will host the Regional game this Saturday in Sussex.
