There was a Key Club executive meeting, and a dance committee meeting today at noon.

This is a notice for students auditioning for 7 Brides – Due to the overwhelming response, there will be additional auditions slots on Thursday AT NOON. A sign-up sheet has been posted by the theatre. Also, call backs will now be Monday and Tuesday after school.

A message for all Sonics football players from Coach Parisella. If you have yet to pass in any part of your football gear you MUST HAVE IT IN BY THIS FRIDAY or a late fee will be charged! Equipment can be dropped off to either Coach Parisella or Mr. Coughlan.

The JV Boys basketball team traveled to Leo Hayes last night and won 55 to 49. Mike Tays led the way with 16 points, while Reggie Raymond had 15 points and John Robinson had 10 points. The Sonics are now 3 and 1 in league play next game is home against KVHS this Wednesday at 5:30 pm.

A black book bag was taken from the lobby yesterday. Please return it to the office ASAP as it has a student’s insulin in it. Thanks so much…..no questions asked!

There was a Green Club meeting today at noon today at noon.

SRHS Band is meeting after school on Wednesday 3:30-4:45 in the Music Room 2026.

There will be a full dress rehearsal for the Dairytown Café on Wednesday at 5pm. All performers should be prepared to stay on through the end of the show.

The Grad Class Fashion Show is Thursday night. Cost is $5 at the door or from any of the models. Come and support the grads and maybe win a door price too.

ATTENTION GRADUATES – Oak Tree Photography must have your yearbook pose selection called into them by 5pm tomorrow afternoon or they will select a pose for you. There was a brief Safe Grad meeting today at noon.

Our next school dance will be held Friday December 9th from 7-10pm. The regular cost of admission is $5 but for every nonperishable food item you donate at the door $1 will be deducted from your admission cost. For sign-ins please see Miss Cook by Dec. 7th.

Monday November 28th is an in-school day for Coop students.

Yesterday evening the varsity girls basketball team travelled to Saint John High to play the Greyhounds. The Sonics came out on top with a score of 68-35, with our only grad, Sarah Meehan carrying the team with 22 points and our rookie Kennedy Baird with 17 points. The Sonics play Rothesay Red Hawks next Thursday here in Sussex be sure to come out to watch.

Are you an artist that is looking for a venue to exhibit your talent? Come out to a meeting this Friday at 12:30 pm in the library seminar room to discuss the Wall of Inspiration that will be displayed in the SRHS courtyard. We will have an opportunity for you to make your mark here at the high school on a 3 Dimension sculpture that will be displayed to incorporate SRHS Youth Forum’s vision of “creating a barrier free school that is understanding, connected, and inspires change.”

If you are a grade 11 or 12 male who is interested in university, Mount Allison University would like you to consider the Opportunity Scholars program at Mount A. The Opportunity Scholars program provides mentors and information sessions with the purpose of making the transition from high school to university easier.

If you are interested or have more questions, please see Mrs. Byers or Mrs. Bennett in the Guidance Centre.

If anyone is interested in a presentation from the Centre for Arts and Technology school in Fredericton, please sign up in the Guidance Centre. They will be in the school on November 30th. You must sign up by Nov. 25th.

Improv registration fees are due. Please hand in your fees to Mr. Rioux by Friday.

The Dairytown Cafe which was scheduled for yesterday evening has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, November 30th at 7:30pm. Please come out to hear great music and stories!

The boys Sonics hockey team got spanked Tuesday night by the KVHS Crusaders 8-0. The boys travel to St. Stephen this weekend for a tournament. Good Luck Boys!

A reminder that all money for Rock-a-thon can be brought tomorrow night but be sure to see Mrs. Lauridsen today with your permission slip.

The varsity girls basketball team beat Simonds 12-72 on Tuesday night. They travel to Saint John High tonight. Good Luck Girls!

Auditions for the spring musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers begin Monday and continue until Wednesday. If you want a lead you must audition Monday and Tuesday at noon or after school. Chorus auditions on Wednesday at noon or after school. Sign up sheets are posted by the theatre doors. Call backs will be Thursday and Friday.

This Wednesday at 12:30 pm there will be a meeting for those interested in participating in creating a 3 Dimensional Art sculpture for the Courtyard at SRHS. This sculpture will need artists to draw and paint. In this art form, we want to depict the Sussex Youth Forum’s vision, “ to create a barrier free school that is understanding, connected and inspires change.” If you are interested in belonging to such a committee, please come to the Library seminar room on Wednesday.

The Sussex Youth Centre Advisory committee would like to personally invite all those students who participated in the Sussex Regional High School Youth Forum last year to come out and enjoy or participate in the SYC coffee house/open mike that is taking place here at the high school this Thursday evening, November 24th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The coffee house, taking place in the cafeteria, will provide our talented students with an opportunity to exhibit their talents. If you are interested in attending this event, would you please sign up in the office.

Congratulations to the girls varsity hockey team for beating Hampton by a score of 2-1. Scoring for Sussex was Maddie Urquart and Morgan Robinson.

The SRHS lady Sonics basketball team came away with the championship trophy at the Miramichi Valley Hoop Classic this weekend. They defeated James M. Hill by a score of 73-43. Sarah Meehan was player of the game. They won their second game versus Saint John High 70-59. Marika deWinter was player of the game. In the finals they beat Rothesay High 76-47 and Kennedy Baird was awarded player of the game. This week the girls travel to Simonds and Saint John High. Good Luck Girls!

The boys Hockey team hosted St. Macs on Saturday and came out on top with a win of 9-3. Mark Parlee, Mark Tabor and Jeremy Vincent finished 2 goals each, and Bryce Worden, Colton Burgess and Mitchell Parlee each had one. Way to go boys! The boys play tomorrow vs KVHS at the Q-Plex at 8pm and host KVHS Wednesday night at 8:15. Come out and support your Sonics.

There will be no set design on Wednesday due to the Dairytown Café show later that evening.

Wondering what the 11/22/63 banner in the lobby is for? The first student to tell Ms. Smith in Room 2010 will get a prize.

Poley Mountain is looking for approximately 14 part time employees. Applications are in the office.

Indigo Books will be here on November 24th from 12 – 2. They will be selling various Stephen King novels in our lobby.

The varsity boys basketball Sonics defeated Hampton High by a score of 110-48 last night. Four Sonics scored in double figures led by Nick Huggard with 32 points and Ryan Palmer who had a great all round game. The Sonics take part in the Rothesay tournament starting tomorrow.

Congrats to Michael Phillips who is winner of Mr. SRHS with a total of 123 points. Thank you to all the other contestants Andrew McLean, Matt Beyer and Neil Symmington and thank you students of SRHS for helping us raise $136.71 for War Child Canada.

Any students who have worked the basketball scorer’s table during the first five games are to see Mr. Belyea for their money.

Tomorrow there will be a Bullied Support meeting beginning at 12:30. Please come to the Guidance Area. Been bullied? Looking to make friends? This is for you!

There was a curling meeting, a yearbook meeting, a Beyond the Hurt meeting and a Green Club meeting, today at noon.

Band practice is cancelled Wednesday after school but there will still be practice Thursday at noon in the music room.

There is a Britney Spears Musical rehearsal after school today.

Sussex Youth Committee is holding its first event on Thursday November 24th from 6:30 to 8:30pm right here in the cafeteria of SRHS. Come on out to our coffee house where their will be food, music and an open mic ready for your performance. Please sign up in the office. If you have any questions Maddie Webb or Sarah Eliott will be happy to answer them.
