The work room will be open Wednesday and Thursday 8:30-4:30 during the March Break. To help you with your career planning or job search needs. The Work room wishes all a fun and safe break.

It is over! The coin drive is done. Mr. MacKay won by a land slide. Mrs. Byers finished second and Mr. Robertson came in third. Mrs. Smith was disqualified for cheating…so sad! Thanks to all who donated.

This week’s Sonic of Week awards go to Rebecca Steeves, Michael Tabor, and Mackenzie Edwards. Rebecca is being celebrated for kindly picking up an Art project for a classmate. Mackenzie is being celebrated for her charismatic performances in front of the class. Thanks for your great participation. Michael is being celebrated for being an excellent school spirit leader in our school community. This week’s staff Sonic of the week awards go to Mrs. Hill, Mr. Hachey, and Mrs. Stout. Mrs. Hill and & Mr. Hachey are being celebrated for all of the hard work and dedication they put into preparation for our Spring Musical. Mrs. Stout is being celebrated for her hard work and efforts in organizing the upcoming Carla Gunn presentations. Keep up the great work Sonics!

Reach for the Top participants had a brief practice today at noon.

REWARD…..there is a reward offered to the person who returns a lost 8Gb Ipod touch. It has a purple skin covering with red Panasonic earphones. Last seen February 24th. Please return to the office to collect the reward.

Yoga for students will be held on Wednesdays from 12:30 – 1:00, starting on March 10th. If interested, please sign up in the office.

This is an announcement for the set workers for Guys and Dolls……We will be doing set work over the March Break: Sunday 1-4, Monday 2- whenever and Tuesday 2- whenever.

Very important Guys and Dolls rehearsal today for all cast at 3:45 until 8:00. You must see Mrs. Hill if you cannot attend.

This Thursday and Friday there will be a kiosk set up in the lobby at noon for men’s and women’s varsity rugby. There will be sign up sheets so if you’re interested, come see us!

Softball Club meets tonight at 7:15pm. Come on out!!!

Applications for Cooperative Education 120 are available in the main office. These need to be completed and returned to the office by Friday, Feb. 26.

Those involved in 4H attended a brief meeting today in the library seminar room.

Students writing the University of Waterloo Math Competition are reminded to go to the library during advisory period tomorrow morning. Students are welcome to come to the Math Center during noon hour to go over the practice exams.

Bys Soccer, Girls Field Hockey and Metal Club – yearbook pictures were taken at the start of lunch today. This announcement if for all cadets from the 2859 Sussex core – The winter campout has been cancelled for this weekend.

Attention Grade 11 & 12 students – A representative will be here Friday at 1:00 to speak to students about a wonderful opportunity to study French during the summer for five weeks at many locations in Canada. The program is funded by the government and you may even qualify for university credit. Come out to hear more about the Explore Program in Mme. Belliveau’s room (1123).

All 4H members are asked to please meet with Mrs. Stairs in the Library Seminar room on Wednesday at the beginning of noon.

Any Safe Grad or Key Club members who can helped sort and roll coins today at noon.

Cents for Safe Grad update: Even with multiple sabotage attempts made against us, Mr. MacKay’s advisory group is still in the lead. Keep bringing in your spare change and remember the top three classes win pizza parties.

There was a brief Dance Committee meeting at noon today.

Any girls from the varsity girls softball team who haven’t tried on the jacket for sizing should see Mr. Belyea.

The JV Girls basketball who haven’t been sized for sweat pants should see Mr. Belyea.

Girls Softball club meets this Wednesday at 7:15 in the gym.

The Wednesday night variety show for Haiti has been cancelled until further notice.

Guys and Dolls rehearsals this week are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 8pm.

Applications for cooperative education 120 are available in the main office. They are to be submitted by Friday, February 26th.

There is a midget boys basketball practice tonight at 5:30.

Cents for safe grad & the Civic Centre update – Mr. MacKay’s class is leading Mr. Robertson’s by more than 1400 points. Mr. Sherwood’s and Mrs. Byers are in a close race for third, with a number of classes within striking distance. Keep bringing in your change and don’t forget to sabotage your rivals!

If you found a silver Ipod Nano – missing since Thursday afternoon, please bring it to Mrs. Smith’s class 2011.

There is no band this week with Mr. Ross – see you after March Break.

Yoga for Students – Yoga classes for students will begin on Wednesday, March 10th. The classes will run from 12:30-1:00, every Wednesday, in the gym area. Interested students can see Mrs. Holder in room 1135 or sign up in the office.

There was a Green Club meeting, a Safe Grad meeting and a junior girls volleyball team meeting today at noon.

What a wonderful week this has been at SRHS! We have lots of students to celebrate today. This week’s sonic of the Week awards go to Robert Scott, Amy Vail, Jenna Dunfield, Zane Powel, Brock Jorgenson, David Otis and Corey McMillan. These students are being celebrated for receiving the Youth Citizenship Award. Congratulations on your achievements! Your SRHS community is very proud of you. We would also like to celebrate an anonymous SRHS student for turning in a found iPod touch phone to the office. The grade 9 student who lost it was greatly appreciative and you are highly regarded by the students and staff at SRHS. Good things will come your way! The SRHS improve team is being celebrated for their dedication and practice this season. They came in 3rd at the Moncton Regional Improv tournament on the weekend after several talented performances. Congratulations. Sean de Winter is also being celebrated this week. Sean was voted as an All-Star for the Southern Conference in basketball by the coaches of our league. Sean will play in the NBIAA All Star game here in Sussex on Sunday, February 21st at 3 PM. Congratulations Sean. We will all be cheering you on! Congratulations to all our Sonics of the Week.

The boys hockey team plays its first playoff game Saturday night at 8:30pm against KV. Please come out and support you Sonics.

The Varsity Girls Softball team stopped by Mr. Belyea’s room today at noon to see and try on the new jackets.

Grade 9 Students interested in preparing for the Pascal Math Competition are invited to come to the Math Centre during noon hour today.

Today’s even, the pie-athlon, will begin at 12:45 for anyone who signed up. Tomorrow everyone is invited to the 8th Hussars for free-skate, $1 pizza, and free hot-chocolate and cake – so bring your skates tomorrow!

There will be no Homework Club today.

There was an Envirothon meeting today at noon.

There was a Prom Committee meeting today after the announcements. Prom committee is still in need of volunteers. Please contact Mme. Bonnell-Walsh if you can help.

Anyone who signed up for the snowman building contest is asked to met outside the school by the flagpoles today. Also the snow shoes race was held today at noon.

Softball Club meets tonight at 7:15pm in the gym.

Mr. Jones from the “Work Room” will not be back in the school until Wednesday, February 24th. If you have an appointment with him between now and then, it will be rescheduled when he gets back.

Grade 11 Students interested in preparing for the Fermat math competition are invited to that Math Center during noon hour on Wednesdays.

Take the Financial Fitness Challenge – See Mrs. Smith.

If you are taking an independent study course (graphic art or business communication) with Mrs. Smith – there was a meeting today at noon.

There was a safe grad meeting and a boys hockey meeting today at noon.

If you own the red electric guitar or the white acoustic guitar left in the music room, please see Mrs. Smidt ASAP.

A wooden plaque was found this morning during period 1 on the second-floor of the Math wing. If you have lost it, please claim it in the office.

Attention SRHS – The Olympic-themed winter carnival will begin this week with the opening ceremonies that were held today at noon followed by activities throughout the week. With gold medal prizes ranging from $10 DQ gift cards to a free pizza. Don’t miss out on all the fun – sign up sheets are in the lobby and spaces are limited.
