The Sonics boys rugby team defeated Simonds on Saturday by a score of 24-12. Matt Steeves, Daniel Stairs, Mitch Folkins and Mike Phillips each scored tries, while Bryce Worden added two converts. The boys host St. Macs tomorrow night at 5:30pm. Come on out and support your Sonics!

The SRHS boys volleyball team play host to KVHS tonight at 6. Winner of tonight’s match will finish in second place in the Southern Conference. GOOD LUCK SONICS!!

The SRHS varsity boys and varsity girls volleyball teams captured the championship of the Hans Lammens Memorial Volley Ball Tournament. The boys defeated KVHS in the final by scores of 25-13 and 25-15. The girls defeated Fredericton High in their final by scores of 16-25, 25-19 and 16-14. WAY TO BE SONICS!!!!

The popular children’s act Sharon and Bram are performing to night here at SRHS at 6:30. Tell your friends and family! Skin-a-mer-incky-dinky-dink, skin-a –mer-incky-do!

There will be a meeting for yearbook staff on Tuesday at 12:15. We will be planning the party to distribute the yearbooks, so be sure to be there.

If anyone has found a silver heart shaped necklace that is diamond studded please bring it to the office so it can be returned to its rightful owner.

ATTENTION VOLLEYBALL FANS! The 2nd annual Hans Lammens Memorial Volleyball Tournament will take place tomorrow at SRHS and Sussex Middle School. 8 boys and 8 girls teams will be participating in the tournament. The varsity girls will be playing at SRHS and the varsity boys will play at the Sussex Middle School. Play begins at 9am.

Well the moment you’ve all been waiting for is almost here! Bryce Worden, Mike Phillips, Mitch Folkins and the rest of the Varsity Sonics Rugby team open their season tomorrow at home vs Simonds High. Kickoff is at 2pm. Please come out and support your Sonics!

In the first ever JV rugby game for SRHS the Sonics lost to Hampton by a score of 29-5. Marty McKenna scored the lone Sonic try. All JV players please not that there’ll be a practice this Sunday at noon.

Our Sonic Girls Rugby team took on the Hampton Huskies yesterday evening on what was a beautiful night for rugby here at home. Although the game did not result in a win for us, the girls, with smiles on their faces and their heads held high, left the field in good spirits and knowing they had learned a lot. Well Done Girls!!!

The JV Boys Rugby team host Hampton this evening at 5:30. Come on out and support your Sonics. Good Luck Boys!!!

Mrs. McEachern’s Human Services class will be holding a bake sale on Sunday from 12:30-4:30 at Sobeys. Money from the sale will go to the Sussex Vale Transition House. Please come out and support our Sonics while they help make a difference in our community.

The JV boys rugby team had a strong opening to their season this weekend, going 1-1-1 at their tournament in KV. The boys defeated KV, lost to St. Macs, and tied Oromocto. Scoring tries for the Sonics were Marty McKenna, Nick McCullum, Brett Cripps-Caines and Andrew MacMillan. John Monahan also kicked two converts. The JV boys open their regular season this Thursday at home vs Hampton at 5:30pm. Come on out and support your Sonics. Good Luck Boys!

Congratulations to Glen Snow for winning GOLD in the New Brunswick Cabinet Making competition. He has won an expense paid trip to Alberta to compete in the National competition. Job well done Glen! Good Luck in Alberta!

Graduation Fees are now being accepted at the school office from 12:15 until 1:00 daily. $105.00 pays for everything — (Basic fee $30.00; Prom with guest $25.00; Banquet $20.00; Safe Grad Party $25.00 and DVD $5.00)

Earth Week fact for yesterday (oops) and today – Recycling one ton of paper saves 20 trees, 7 000 gallons of water and 60 pounds of air pollutants. The energy saved by recycling a single aluminum can would run a TV for three hours. Wowsers!

The list of students selected for Outdoor Pursuits next year is now posted on the office glass wall. Please get your money to Mr. Barton as soon as possible.

A notice to all boys rugby players – If you are interested in buying a team tracksuit or jacket, please see Mr. Sherwood and try on a sample. The order will be going in at the end of the week.

Any grad who wishes to sing at a grad event is invited to audition May 3rd after school in the music room. Choose an appropriate song, memorize it and arrange for accompaniment. Auditions are held one day only so plan ahead. For more information see one of the music teachers.

Attention all students participating in track and field. Don’t forget, there is a track and field practice today right after school.

Are you 18 years of age and interested in working the polls for our local election? We now have an Election in Sussex, Sussex Corner, and Norton Area. The regular poll is May 14th and advance poll is May 5th. If interested, please sign up in the Guidance Centre ASAP and you will be contacted right away.

The Sonic Varsity rugby team had a great start to the season this weekend as they went 3-0 at their tournament in Hampton. On Friday they defeated Rothesay 26-0. On Saturday they beat Miramichi 22-15 and crushed Harrison Trimble 39-5. Bryce Warden and Mike Phillips led the Sonics with 5 tries each. While Mitch Folkins had 4 and Daniel Stairs had one. WELL DONE SONICS! The Sonics open their regular season next Tuesday at home against Hampton. Come on out and support your Sonic. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!

SRHS Band is meeting Tuesday after school from 3:30 to 4:45.

HEY SONICS…Mr. Belyea’s leadership team claims they are going to win the cents for safe grad competition…you gonna let that happen? Get you coins into your advisory quickly to prove him wrong!

It’s Green Week! Get your bingo card tomorrow at noon. We are playing BINGO during advisory on Wednesday so don’t miss your chance to play and win cool prizes!
