Improv is cancelled for today!

There was a Reach for the Top practice in Mr. Rioux’s room today at noon.

The post-secondary fair is fast approaching and we are just finishing up with some of the final details. Whereas it occurs on Monday, Oct. 31st, we would like you to share the following schedule with grade 12 students. As well, Grade 11students will be permitted to be excused from the first half of their period 3 class to attend the Walkabout session in the Gym. This is the only part of the fair that the grade 11 students will participate in. After they complete the fair, they are to return to their period 3 class.

9:10 -9:25 am – Opening Remarks in the Theater for SRHS, Belleisle Regional High School, Hampton High School and PALs.

9:30 – 10:00 am – SRHS Session B (One of: NBCC, Direct to Work or Military)

10:00 – 10:10 am Break

10:10 – 10:40 SRHS Walkabout

10:40 – 11:10 SRHS – Grade 12 Session A (One of: Apprenticeship, Private Training, University)

Grade 11 Walkabout in the gymnasium

11:10 Break and Students return to their period 4 class.

There will be no band meetings this week however band will continue with both practices next week.

Attention set workers – there will be no meeting today after school. However plan to paint next Wednesday.

JV Boys Basketball this evening from 7:15 to 9:00 in the gym.

There was a Green Club meeting today at noon.

A huge thank you to teachers, EA’s, students, grad class, custodians and administration who participated in Spooktrail. Grad class appreciate your time and hard work.

The Dance Committee will be having their group photo taken Thursday following the announcements in Miss Cook’s room. All members need to attend.

UNB Fredericton – A representative from UNB Fred. Will be here from 9-10 on Thursday, Oct. 27th. Please sign up in the Guidance Centre by the end of Wed. if you are interested in attending. If you are in co-op and can not attend, a representative will also be here for an evening session on Nov. 8th, 6:30 – 8:00pm. Night Course – PALs is offering an opportunity for students to pick up an extra credit to go towards graduation. If you are interested in taking a night course, please see Mrs. Byers in the Guidance Centre.

If you are planning on having your grad photo in the yearbook and on the grad composite photo in the lobby you need to have a photo done by Oaktree Photography. You can have this done on Friday of this week between 2 and 3pm. It should only take 5 minutes and only costs $5.00. If you have any questions see Mr. Gaunce.

SRHS gets “Spooky” tonight! Set up for spook trail will begin during last class today for participating classes only. Decorating must be finished by 5:30. We hop to have a great night tonight for the whole community from 6pm to 8pm.

There was a Dance Committee meeting, a GEO Group gathering, a filed hockey meeting and a Key Cub meeting today at noon.

Master Corporal Ostrom visited SRHS today to discuss job opportunities at the 8th Hussars Reserves unit.

Our Halloween dance is Friday night from 7-10pm. Please bring your student ID cards.

Thursday October 27th there will be an open mic/coffee house here in the cafeteria from 6:30-8:30 held by Sussex Youth Center. Everyone is welcome. Bring your talent. Sign up in the office

There will be no homework club today after school.

There was a Safe Grad meeting today at noon and an Improv meeting today afterschool.

Attention Varsity Football Players – Your bus to St. Stephen leaves from SRHS at 9:30 sharp on Saturday morning. Don’t be late! Because of the rain, practice is cancelled for today and rescheduled for tomorrow at 5:00.

Varsity Sonics soccer ladies travelled to Hampton last evening and tied 1-1. The lone goal was scored by Marika deWinter! The ladies finished in second place and host either SJHS or St. Macs tomorrow at 4:30 in the semis. Good Luck Girls!

Attention Grad Class – Lockhart’s Weddings and Special Occasions are having a School Pride Prom Sale on Monday Oct 24th. New prom stock is starting to arrive and they need to make room! Lockhart’s will be donating 10% of all sales on Monday to your Grad Class to help out with your celebrations in June. Call today to book your appointment (they can do groups of 3 girls in one appointment if you don’t mind sharing a change room). 432-6594. Bring your Mom and your money as dresses will be disappearing quickly and they won’t be able to hold items. They do have a payment plan that requires a 30% deposit.

There was an Improv team meeting, a Yearbook meeting, a Green Club meeting and a Dance Committee meeting today at noon.

The varsity girls soccer team defeated Simonds last night by a score of 5-1. Geena Oxford opened the scoring, followed by singles from Madison Gray and Kennedy Baird. Maddy Urquhart finished for 2 goals. Congrats! The Sonics battle Hampton High Wednesday evening. Good luck ladies.

Do you ever think why didn’t I do this or why didn’t I attend that event? Wonder no more….attend the Halloween Dance on Friday October 28th.

Boys and girls basketball try-outs will take place on Thursday. JB and Varsity boys is from 3:45 to 5:30 and JV and varsity girls is from 5:30 to 7:15. If you are planning to play on either JV or varsity teams this year you must be at try-outs Thursday. If you cannot be there because of another commitment (football, soccer, ect.) please give your name to Mr. Barton before the try-out.

There will be cupcakes on sale in the lobby Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as well as finger nail painting on the same days. All money raised will go to build a flower bed showing the school’s awareness of the effects of breast cancer. Bring your money and support a good cause.

Congratulations to the sonic field hockey team for winning 2-0 against St. Macs on Saturday morning. Both goals scored by Kiersten Jones. The girls are reminded to get out of class at 2:50 for their game against Oromocto. Good Luck Ladies!

Please go to www.earthspirithorserescue.com and vote for a local horse rescue organization trying to get started in nearby Knightville. It’s a great cause and without your support, Earth Spirit Horse Rescue won’t be able to save deserving horses from terrible fates.

There will be a very important Green Club meeting Tuesday at 12:30 in Mme Belliveau’s class.

This Saturday, October 15th UNB Saint John will be having their open house. Do not miss out. Take a trip to Saint John and tour the campus as well as residence. Meet with professors, sit in on a class and enjoy a BBQ and opportunity to win many prizes. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Byers.

UNBSJ will have a representative visit our school on Tuesday, Oct. 18th during period 5. If you would like to learn about the programs, admission requirements, residence life and scholarships or have any other questions, please come in to the Guidance Centre to sign up for this visit.

Reminder for the boys varsity football team of the classroom session after school today at 4:30 to view game film before tomorrow’s game in Mr. Coughlan’s room 1128.

Attention Co Op students – Monday is an in-school day for Co Op students.
