There is a boys rugby practice this evening at 8pm in the SRHS gym.

The SRHS lady Sonics varsity volleyball team defeated St. Stephen 2 matches to 0. The scores in the first match were 25-10 and 25-18. The second match was 25-14 and 25-8. Caitlin Mitton led the Sonics offense with 9 kills and 11 ace serves. Sarah Meehan had 9 kills, Brooklyn Hodgin 5 and Marika deWinter had 4. The Sonics host SJH tonight at 6 in the Sonic Dome. Good Luck Girls!

Best of luck to Andrew Gass and Ryan Dunfield who are playing in the Irving Oil Challenge Cup tonight at the QPlex! Go Boys!

Set workers for Fame please meet in the art room today at 3:30-5. Fame cast will be starting in the music room.

There was a Safe Grad meeting and a Curling Team meeting at noon today.

Operation Inspiration Update – So it’s almost April and many of our grads have selected on of the 6 destinations – Nick deWinter Memorial University –> BSC major in Math, Colin Spencer –> Industrial Control Technology at NBCC Moncton and Matt Beers –> Steel Fabrication at NBCC Moncton. So share what your grads of 2011 have planned for life after SRHS.

There will be a Grad Potluck on Tuesday April 5th at 5:30 in the cafeteria. This is open to ALL GRADS. The sign up list is in the main office.

Dairy Town Classic registration has begun. The DTC camp will run from June 27th to July 1st. Registration forms can be picked up from Mr. Jeffrey or Mr. Barton. The camp is open to students going into grades 9-12.

Are you suffering from hockey withdrawal? I have the solution for you, Girls Softball Club. We go every Wednesday night from 7:15 to 9:00pm in the gym. So brig your sneakers and glove and come on out!

JV Girls Basketball hoodies are in so drop by and see Mr. Belyea.

There is a rugby practice this evening in the gym at 5:30pm.

If you are interested in participating in Track and Field this year please see Mr. Polley.

To submit photo’s of you and your friends for the Grad Slide Show bring them on a memory stick or disc to Mr. Gaunce, Hannah Webster or Laura Dawe. You can also send them by e-mail to Laura or Hannah.

There will be a Grad Pot Luck next Tuesday April 5th. Sign up in the office.

The girls curling team played in the regional’s this weekend. They lost to Thomas Albert but defeated St. Mac’s and simonds. The mixed curling team lost to Oromocto and defeated Nackawic and Simonds. Both teams have now qualified to play in the Provincial’s this weekend. Congratulation!

The Boys Basketball Midget Team won silver this weekend at the BNB Age Class Provincials. The boys defeated KV and Harvey, but fell to East Saint John in the championship game. The boys would like to thank Brianne and Hayley Doney for coaching, and a special thanks to Jeremy Maxwell for stepping in this weekend.

There will be a Sussex Community Forum on Monday March 28th from 7-9 pm in the Sussex Regional High School Theater. During the evening the results from the 40 Developmental Asset Survey will be discussed, as well updates from our committee chairs on the projects from the SRHYS Youth Forum. Towards the end of the evening there will be break out groups to enable time for discussion to identify what needs to be done to assist the youth in our community increase their assets.

There will be indoor field hockey tonight from 7:15-9:00. All boys and girls interest are welcome.

There will be a Zumba disco night party to support Relay for Life on Friday April 1st at the Sussex Legion from 7to 8:30pm. Thickets are $10 each and are available at Petro Canada, Backstage Music and through Micah Maclennan. Lead by Melanie McKiel and Justin Saulnier. Come on out to support a great cause!

Any cast or crew who can help with set work for Fame please meet here at SRHS between 1-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Ball Hockey Intramurals continue on Monday with two full count semi-finals. The Aliens will face the powerhouse Faculty Flyers team at 12:30 and the Tropics will face Biebs and the Boys at 12:50. The winners will face off on Wednesday at 12:35 in the final.

Coop students are reminded that Monday is an in-school day.

Good luck to the girls and mixed curling teams as they compete in the Regional’s today and tomorrow.

There was a Safe Grad meeting at noon today.

The SRHS Key Club is hosting a cakewalk on Friday, April 1st at the SRHS cafeteria at 7pm. Come and play fun games and win delicious cakes. Admission is $5 for high school students and older, and $2.25 for younger children. Support Key Club, enjoy cake and entertainment.

Come to the Teacher Tape UP and get to tape Mr. Hachey and Mr. Polley to the theatre doors at noon on Wednesday March 30th. We are selling pieces of tape for 25¢ a piece. Come to support your Key Club convention and have a good time! It starts at 12:30.

There was an Alateen meeting and an Anonymous practice today at noon.

Congratulations go out to three of our talented Sonics for winning first place in the Legion’s Remembrance Day Poster and Essay contest. Sadie MacNutt took first place with her colour poster in the grade 9 level; Jessica Rouse took first place with her black and white poster in the grade 9 level and Michael Cogger took first place with his colour poster and first place with his poem in the grade 10 level. Congratulations Sadie, Jessica and Michael.

There is a boy’s rugby practice tonight at 7:15pm in the high school gym.

The Sussex Skating Club invites all students, staff and parents to attend their annual ice show “Once Upon a Time” on Saturday March 26th. Shows at 2pm and 7pm. Adults $10 Students $5.

Youth Forum committee leaders of the Inspiration Wall, the Youth Centre and a School Wide Youth forum are asked to meet in Mrs. Byers room at the beginning of noon hour for a meeting to discuss the possibility of being involved in a Sussex Community Forum. Your attendance at this meeting is important, as Thelma Messer will be here to present her ideas on the Community Forum.

Poley Mountain’s Fundraiser Ski night is tonight between 6-9pm. Lift tickets are $10, rentals are $10, Season pass holders must also pay to ski during this time as it is outside regular Poley hours. All proceeds from this event will go towards the Sussex Mammography Machine Fundraiser.

Today and tomorrow in the lobby there will be a banner that the whole school needs to sign. This is in support of Ryan Dunfield and Andrew Gass who will be taking part in the Irving Oil Cup at the Q-Plex. Come and sign the banner today and tomorrow in the lobby.

Set works for Fame this week – everyday at noon and Tuesday and Thursday after school and Sunday 1-4.

This week student council will be collecting money Tuesday and Thursday for Japan and their terrible loss. Please try to contribute so that SRHS can help out this country that really needs it right now.

Congratulations to Nathan Brown, Jeremy Vincent, Lucas McPhee, Brandon Moore, Nolan Graham, Cale MacLennan, Kenny Otis and Amber Taylor for their placements in the District 6 Science Fair. In the grade 10 category, Lucas McPhee and Brandon Moore placed 3rd. Nathan Brown and Jeremy Vincent placed 2nd. Cale MacLennan and Nolan Graham placed 1st. In the grade 9 category Amber Taylor placed 3rd and Kenny Otis placed 1st.
