Monday Secember 20th 2010

Mr. McAleenan’s basketball breakfast club on Tuesday morning is cancelled until after Christmas Break.

The JV girls basketball team defeated St. Stephen High 67-56 in there tournament over the weekend. The girls played a great game!

The varsity boys hockey team lost a very close game 6-5 to the St. Stephen Spartans on Saturday night. Brandon Beyer scored his very first goal as a Sonic. Nick deWinter increased his goal streak to 6 games and Evan Gass and Colin Urqhart continued their dominant play as they both added singles. Nathan Brown also added a goal as he returned from his concussion time off the ice. The boys will play in the St. John tournament over the Christmas break. Good luck boys!

There will be no homework club this week. Homework club will start again January 11th in plenty of time to help you get ready for exams.

Friday December 17th 2010

The JV Girls basketball team lost a close game to St. Macs last night 42 to 38 in Saint John. Come on out this weekend to the Sonic Dome where the JV Girls will be hosting their 6 team tournament on Saturday & Sunday. The girls are playing at 11:00 am & 7:00 pm on Saturday.

The Lady Sonics Hockey Team play their final home game prior to the Christmas Break, tomorrow night! Game time is at 6:45pm and Sonic Fan Support would be Great!!! Please come out and cheer on your Lady Sonics as they take on the Harbour View Vikings!

Thank you to all who wore BLUE today in recognition of Anti-Bullying Day!

Key Club members had their Christmas party today at noon.

The JV boys basketball team lost last night to Rothesay High 62-59. The Sonics were led by Brandon Moore with 18 points, Mitchell Folkins with 14 and Marcus Robinson with 11. The next home game for the JV Sonics is Thursday night at 5:30 when they play St. John High.

Tomorrow is the last day to bring in items for our Christmas Care Drive. Don’t forget that there is a full belly and a warm heart up for grabs.

Tuesday December 14th, 2010

The varsity boys hockey team won their second game of the season last night 7-4 against the Simonds Seabees. Nic deWinter, Colin Urqhart and Jeremy Vincent all had a pair of goals and Tony Verhoeven added a single. The boys next game will be tonight as they head to KV to take on the Crusaders. Game time is 8pm. Good Luck Boys!

Attention Grads – If you ordered a grad sweatshirt, you may pick it up from Mrs. Gillies in the office tomorrow at 12:45pm.

Attention Sonics – Our Christmas care drive is winding down. The last day to bring in items is this Thursday. Good Luck!

In recognition of Anti Bullying day on Friday December 17, we ask that everyone wear a blue shirt – THE BRIGHTER THE BETTER!

Monday December 13th, 2010

The Lady Sonics won on Saturday night with a 4-0 shutout of the St. Stephen Spartans! Everyone contributed an excellent effort in the win! Tonight the Lady Sonics face off, on the road, against Rothesay Netherwoods! Go Sonics!

The Lady Sonics travelled to St. Stephen on the weekend to participate in the 21st Rotary Basketball Tournament. The girls went undefeated in the Round Robin defeating Calais 71-43 and St. John High 75-41. In the semi-final they defeated Harbourview High to the tune of 87-56. In the Championship the girls played with great determination and ended up on the winning end of a 58-53 score against Calais High. Madeline Belding has an excellent tournament and was selected tournament MVP. Sussex game stars were Sarah Holt, Sarah Meehan and Courtney Clement. Taneesha Dalling received an honorable mention for her all round play. This Wednesday the girls host FKHS in an all important league game. Game time is 7:15.

Want to send someone a Christmas message? Safe Grad will be selling Candy Cane Grams this week at lunch in the lobby for 50 cents each.

The varsity boys Sonics won their first game of the year 7-5 against Simonds High on Saturday night. Jed Tiny Webster and Mark Tabor both had two goals each in the win. Evan Gass and Nick de Winter had singles and Jared McKenna had an empty netter. The boys next game will be tonight in Simonds. Good luck Guys!

There will be a Green Club workshop held on Friday December 17th. We will be making “earth conscious Christmas gift tags”. See Mme Bonnell Walsh or Mme Morneault to sign up.

Attention Sonics – Our drama team has put together 2 student directed shows with a guest appearance form the Improv team that are being performed this Friday @ 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door. You don’t want to miss this exciting night!

The Lady Sonics Hockey team face off tomorrow night against St. Stephen High School. The ladies are looking for a win against St. Stephen to move their win streak to 3 in a row. Game time is 6:45pm at the 8th Hussars arena. Come out and support your team!

Coop students are reminded that Monday December 13 is an In-School Day.

The JV boys basketball team defeated Hampton High last night 95-38. Leading the way for the Sonics were Michael Tays with 20 points, Mitchel Folkins with 17, and Marcus Robinson with 15. The next home game for the Sonics is Tuesday night. Come out and support the boys.

Perhaps you have noticed the posters promising a night of performing arts – it is not tonight but next Friday instead.

Thursday December 9 2010

The varsity boys hockey team lost a very close game to the St. Stephen Spartans last night in St. Stephen. The final score was 5-4 with Nick de Winter potting two and Evan Gass and Colin Urqhart adding singles. The boys next game will be here on Saturday against the Simonds Seebees. Game time is 8:30pm. Come on out and cheer on your Sonics.

Mr. Belyea is looking for students to run the clock for the JV Girls Basketball tournament next Saturday Dec 18th and Sunday Dec 19th. We pay $6 per game. Please stop by Mr. Belyea’s room 2057 to sign up. This tournament will be good practice for anyone interested in doing dairy town classic games.

There was a Green club meeting and a safe grad meeting today at noon.

The JV girls Basketball team lost to Harbourview last night 60-42. Sussex was trailing by 2 at half time but the Harbourview trapping game and post play won the game for them in the second half. Dyllan Taylor and Ashley Black had strong defensive efforts for the Sonics, while Jenna Miller had a good night offensively.

For those of you who have noticed the posters promising a wonderful night of drama – It IS NOT TOMORROW! This wonderful night of drama has been rescheduled to next Friday the 17th of December. We are happy to have an extra week to prepare and we can’t wait to perform for you next week. So come on out and watch 2 student directed plays and enjoy a special appearance from our SRHS Improv team! The cost is $5 at the door – See you there!
