Next Wednesday and Thursday night be prepared to be entertained by your favorite Glee characters and many other great musicians, singers, and dancers from Step in Time, KVHS, your favorite teachers, Generation Gap and much more. Whether you love the show Glee or you love to poke fun at it – this show is for you! All proceeds to the SRHS. Theatre renovation project.

There will be a very important meeting for all participants in the anti-bullying training session on Monday at noon right after the announcements in Mme Morneault’s.

There was a drag team meeting at noon today.

Theatre Arts students were encouraged to attend a choreography review at noon today in the theatre. Also costuming was available at the same time.

JV girls basketball hoodies are here for you to try on and get sized. See Mr. Belyea.

Midget boys basketball practice is tonight from 7:15 to 8:30.

February is suicide awareness month and in recognition of this all Sonics are asked to wear yellow this Friday February 25th.

The boys Sonic Hockey team won their 2nd game in row last night with a 3-2 win over St. Stephen High Spartans. Nick deWinter lead the team with his speed, strength and grace (well not so much grace) in a 3 point night, 2 goals (including the winner set up by Colin Urquhart) and 1 assist. Even Gass had the other goal for the Sonics. The Sonics next home game is this Saturday at 8:30pm against the powerful St. Mac’s Saints. This is our last league and the last home game for our seniors so please come out and cheer them on.

Set workers are asked to please meet this week on Wednesday and Thursday.

There was an Envirothon members meeting today at noon.

Field hockey players interested in attending an indoor tournament at UNB on March 5th and 6th should come to practice tonight in the gym at 7:15 or talk to Miss Kyle for more information. We will also be looking at ordering jackets at practice tonight.

As part of Winter Carnival festivities today we had snowshoe races.

8 Sussex High students competed this past weekend at the New Brunswick Provincial Star Skate Championships in Edmundston. Allyson MacDougall won 3 gold medals in dance, skills and interpretive, Andrew MacMillan won 2 gold medals in freestyle and skills, Geena Oxford 2 silver in dance and skills, Kendall Bacon a bronze medal in dance. Also competing were Kendra Graham, Jenna Gregg, Bryanna Lagace and Madeline Webb. Congratulations to them all.

Attention Graduates: – There will be a grad potluck this Thursday February 24th at 6pm. Sign up in the office.

All Envirothon members are to meet in Mme Bonnell-Walsh’s room Tuesday at noon, immediately following the announcements.

Winter Carnival started today with hot chocolate in the lobby. There are sign up sheets for the activities this week.

Teams will have until Tuesday afternoon to sign up for ball hockey intramurals. The schedule will be up on Wednesday and games will start next Monday.

There is a full cast music rehearsal after school in the theatre. All Fame cast members are expected to attend.

Winter Carnival will begin next week starting on Monday, with different winter activities happening each day. Be sure to sign up on Monday to take part in the activities to win prizes.

Try outs for any boys in grades 9 to 12 interested in play volleyball, begin on Tuesday of next week. If you have any questions or can not make it please see Mr. Gaunce.

This was Random Act of Kindness Week here at SRHS. Our SRHS Celebrate committee asked staff to nominate students who show kindness everyday. A random draw was held from these nomination for four prizes. The winners are: Shannon MacFarlane, Keirsten Jones, Matthew Price, and Bradley Sleep. Well done Sonics!

Envorothon Members – Tomorrow’s workshop in Fredericton has been cancelled due to weather. We will not be meeting tomorrow morning.

There is a midget boys basketball practice tonight from 5:30 to 7:15.

Are you between 16 and 18 years of age and interested in meeting our country’s leaders and decision makers, and gaining a better understanding about Canadian government? How would you like to join a group of Canadian teens for a week in Ottawa in May for the Adventures in Citizenship trip? If you are interested in such a trip, see Mrs. Byers in the Guidance Centre for an application. Interviews will take place next week.

Any student who has applied to get into the Outdoor Pursuits Class needs to pick up a form from the office. This form must be completed by a teacher and returned to Mr. Barton’s mailbox.

There are sign up sheets in the gym area and on the SRC door for Ball Hockey intramurals. A schedule will be done soon. If you are interested, get a team together and sign up.

All boys hockey players are reminded of our practice tonight at 8:15pm.

On Saturday the boys hockey team came back for a 6-0 deficit in the 2nd period and scored 7 unanswered goals to beat the Hampton Huskies 7-6. Colin Urquhart lead the way with 2 goals and 3 assists, while Evan Gass had 1 goal and 3 assists and Nathan Brown managed 2 goals and an assist. Mark Tabor and Bryce Worden finished the scoring for the Sonics. Reminder to the boys of gym tonight at 7:15pm. Next home game will be February 26th at 8:30pm against the powerful St. Mac’s. This will be the last home game before playoffs.

Attention B10 121.122 classes from semester 1 – The dissection will proceed as planned at 7pm tonight. See you there!

Try outs for Junior and Varsity girls volleyball will begin this week. Then will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30. Tryouts are open to any girls in grades 9-12 .

Attention Fame cast – There is a whole cast music rehearsal after school today with Mrs. Smidt. Everyone is expected to attend.

The SRHS JV Girls’ Basketball team ended their season on a three game winning streak. On Saturday they travelled to Sackville to play in a three team challenge. In their first game they defeated Parsborro 48-20, Alison Murphy led the way with 12 points, followed by Jenna Reid with 9 and Brianna Waugh with 8. Olivia Bradley had 18 offensive boards in the game. In the second game we defeated the host Tantrama Titans 51-40. Jenna Reid ld the way with 16 points, while Alison Murphy and Cora Sharp had 11 and 10 points respectively. While Olivia Bradley once again dominated on the offensive glass with 24 boards. Rachel Stevens had a great game shutting down and frustrating the opposition with great defence.
