There was a Green Club meeting, a Safe Grad meeting, a Yearbook meeting and a Reach for the Top practice all at noon today. We’re a busy school!

Today is the BIG DAY: Everyone is welcome to come down to the theatre at the beginning of noon for the announcement of the cast of “Guys and Dolls”.

The Dairytown classic is Back! Get your tickets now – adult tickets are $15 which includes the program and student tickets are a steal at $5!!! See Mrs. Frazee to purchase your tickets. They make a great Christmas present/stocking stuffer.

There will be curling today after school. New curlers are welcome to join us.

This weekend the boys hockey team travelled to St. Stephen for a tournament. They won one and tied two, not making it to the crossovers. The hockey team travels to Simonds tonight and have a home game this Wednesday night against Rothesay High.

Attention All Grads – The picture you want for the yearbook must be chosen by tomorrow, Dec 1st. The page is in the office to indicate which picture you would like. If you do not make a choice, it will be made for you and we can not change it!

MERGE is having “Half-Time” once again this Tuesday at lunch. “Half-Time” is an “All-U-Can-Eat” Kraft Dinner lunch provided by the youth pastors of Sussex, held upstairs in the 8th Hussars.

Yearbooks will be on sale starting tomorrow in the lobby at a cost is $45.00. Get yours before Christmas and avoid the price jump.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all yearbook photographer’s on Wednesday, December 2nd at 12:45 in the yearbook room.

Don’t forget that the CHRISTMAS LOCKDOWN is this Friday night. Don’t miss out on this all-night party at Sussex Wesleyan Church with Pastors Phil, Andrew, Nick and Dave. There’s a chance to win a PLAYSTATION 3, along with some other great prizes. There’s going to be karate classes, art classes, a video game room, lots of pizza and food and much, much, more! Friday November 27 2009

There was a yearbook photographer’s meeting today at noon in the yearbook room and the Reach for the Top group met today with Mr. Hachey at lunch.

Monday is an in school day for Co-op students.

This weeks Sonic of the week awards go to Sean de Winter, Adam Keirstead, and Lynn Symington for carrying the Olympic torch this week. Great Work! Kelsey Darling, Jordan Daley, Joseph Goodwin and Patrick Belliveau are being celebrated for their participation on the Coca-Cola Green Team. Jenna Dunfield is being celebrated for her willingness to find clock operators and for giving her time to help the basketball teams at SRHS. Mrs. Bent is our staff Sonic of the week for the professionalism and dedication that she shows students and staff in and out of the classroom. Thanks to all our Sonics of the week for helping to make our school so great!

Thursday November 26

November 27th 2009 is “Buy Nothing Day” in Canada and the US. People are encouraged to not make any purchases on Friday. That means no shopping, no vending machines and no entertainment that you have to pay for! Are you up for the challenge?

Attention Grads – The picture you want for the yearbook must be chosen by Dec 1st. The page is in the office to indicate which picture you would like. If you do not make a choice the choice will be made for you and we can not change it.

There will be a dance this Friday from 7 – 10 pm. The cost of this Christmas themed dance will be $5 at the door. Students must have their student Id in order to get in. All coats and bags must be placed in the coat check and once you check your belongings you will not be able to access them until you leave for the night. Safe Grad will be selling beverages at the dance.

The JV boys basketball team will practice at 5:30 today. The varsity boys basketball team will practice tonight at 7:15.

Any boys baseball or boys soccer players who do not pass in their uniform to Mr. Barton will not be permitted to attend the dance this Friday. Please get your uniforms back to Mr. Barton.

Wednesday November 25 2009

Looking for a job? Poley Mountain reps will be in the lobby at noon tomorrow with applications available.

There will be a dance this Friday from 7 -10pm. The cost fo this Christmas themed dance will be $5 at the door. Students must have their student ID in order to get in. All coats and bags must be placed inthe coat check and once you check you belongings you will not be able to access them until you leave for the night. Safe Grad will also be selling beverages at the dance.

Last night the Sonics Hockey team travelled to St. Stephen and lost a close game 5-4 in overtime. The goals were scored by Jeremy Walker, Nick de Winter and Colin Urguhart with two.

Callbacks are today after school 3:40-5:00. The list has been posted on the theatre bulletin board.

16:20 Youth Group meets tonight at the Sussex Wesleyan Church. We have a very special guest with us along with some great prizes to be won.

Announcements for Tuesday November 24 2009

Practice has been cancelled today for the JV Girls Basketball team due to the H1N1 Clinic. We will be practicing on Wednesday instead but Mr. Belyea is not sure of the time as yet.

A reminder that the Lockdown is Dec 4-5. This over-night party at Sussex Wesleyan Church is only $5 and you have many chances to win some great prizes like a Playstation 3! So don’t miss the Lockdown…forms are in the office and Library!

Announcements for Monday November 23 2009

Mrs. Lauridsen is available for extra help at noon today and tomorrow.

Today is the very last day of auditions for the spring musical. If you missed out, you must see Mrs. Hill or Mrs. Smidt today for details. The call back list will go up tomorrow at noon.

Announcements for Friday November 20 2009

Today at noon the band Big Richards played in the lobby.

This weeks Sonic of the Week awards go to Alexandra Demers, Josh Hayes and Mrs. Klingenburg’s Period 1 English Class. Alexandra is being celebrated for being so responsible in Math class. Josh is being celebrated for kindly cutting rafters for a friend, and Mrs. Klingenburg’s Per. 1 class is being celebrated for demonstrating respect during the singing of O’Canada every morning, without any coaxing from her. Thank you! This week’s staff sonic awards go to Mr. Titus and Mr. Coughlan for their dedication and help this year as SRHS football team managers. You are appreciated by all.

There was a dance committee meeting in Miss Cook’s room at noon today and a Reach for the Top practice.

Last night the Sonics Hockey team travelled to Hampton and tied the Huskies 3-3. Goals were scored by Kevin Armstrong, Evan Gass and Colin Urquhart. Your Sonics play again this Saturday night here at home against Simonds. Good Luck Boys!

Just a reminder to the improv group travelling to Mt. Allison tomorrow, please remember to bring a lunch, some money for supper and a notebook to take notes. We’ll be leaving at 8:15 sharp.

Announcements for Thursday November 19 2009

There will be a dance next Friday evening from 7-10. The dance committee will meet tomorrow at noon in Miss cook’s room. Anyone interested in helping out is welcome to attend.

Your Sonic hockey team will be travelling to Hampton tonight to take on the Hampton Huskies. Good luck tonight boys! Don’t forget to come on out to support your Sonics when they play their first home game on Saturday.

Announcements for Wednesday November 18 2009

Important announcement regarding auditions: Please have your accompaniment on a CD, an MP3 player or use a live instrument. Also, if you are unable to audition this week please see Mrs. Hill asap.

Grad best friend and sibling pictures will be retaken on Thursday, November 19th and Friday, November 20th at lunch in the courtyard. It is important that everyone who has already had a picture taken or still wants a picture taken show up because this is your final chance.

If you are considering university as a post secondary option, have you looked at going outside of the province of NB? A representative from Saint Francis Xavier University will be here Wednesday, November 25 during 5th period to share information on this very popular university. Please sign up in the Guidance Centre if you are interested in SFX.

Thursday Nov. 19 will be a litterless lunch day. The Green Club is encouraging all students and staff of SRHS to not use anything that would go into the trash cans this Thursday. Make your lunch and consider the environment.

Homework club was held today at noon today.

The Ring Lady from Jostens will be here tomorrow at lunch time. A $50 deposit is required for Jostens to begin creating your ring. Order now and have your ring by Christmas. Announcements for Tuesday November 17 2009

Any members of the Improv Club who are going to the Mount Allison workshop this weekend were asked to meet Ms. MacLeod fro a brief information meeting at noon today.

Band is cancelled with Mr. Ross this week. He hopes to be back next week.

There was a Student Council meeting today in Mr. Belyea’s room at noon and a Dance Committee meeting was held today too.

Auditions for the spring musical began today. How exciting! If you have not yet signed up,, its not too late. There is space for tomorrow. See the drama bulletin board for details.

Grad Class – The last day to get your grad photos done here at school is Wednesday Nov. 18th. The sign up sheet is in the office now.
